"YEAH - GO!" 


AAFEA's after-school program for youth is a now in its third year of successful operation. The program "YEAH GO!" - Youth Entrepreneurs After-school Heroines Gear-up for Opportunity - is a youth development after-school initiative that focuses on building entrepreneurial and career development skills and currently operates in the Sayre Community School BEACON. The goal of the program is to increase the self-awareness and self-esteem of middle-school age girls by teaching self-exploration techniques within an entrepreneurial and career development curriculum offered 4 -5 days per week after-school and during the summer months. This program was a "Gear-up for College Access" Community Partner and is supported in part by the City of Philadelphia's After School Initiative through Philadelphia Safe & Sound.

The objectives of the program are multiple including:

  1. To increase understanding of business language and business concepts
  2. To complete a business plan
  3. To provide and increase access and exposure to business owners and mentors within the community where they live.
  4. To develop and increase knowledge of computer technology and utilization
  5. To provide home access to a computer
  6. To increase their knowledge and exposure to a wider variety of career options thus increasing their awareness of various career and business tracks and opportunities
